According to the objectives, and in line with the activities that will be developed during the three years of the project, considering the planned results lets us speak of three broad types of results associated with the project:

a) Products to obtain, understood as indicators and results:

  • 20 national reports on the conceptualisation of access, standardisation and continuance systems, and university student tutoring and retention strategies in each of the participating countries (partners and twins).
  • 1 comparative report on conceptualisation and comparative study on the different access systems, continuance standards and tutoring and retention strategies for Latin American university students.
  • Tool that allows for the identification, selection and prioritisation of the least-advantage social classes and minority groups.
  • Digital repository of university experiences on students’ access and continuance at Latin American and European universities.
  • Access, Continuance & Academic Performance methodology (ACAP) at Latin American HEIs.
  • Intervention manual that explains the action protocols included in the different process stages for innovation of institutional policies and plans.
  • ACCEDES model, which integrates ACAP methodology and the resulting intervention manual.
  • Implementation of services and/or programmes aimed at improving universities providing better service for vulnerable groups at participating universities.
  • Evaluation report on the processes and results of each of the associated HEIs.
  • Review and adaptation of the ACCEDES model, with particularly impact on access and continuance programmes, in accordance with evaluation results.
  • Validated ACCEDES model (final): manual review and adaptation and access and continuance actions and programmes, in accordance with evaluation results.
  • Formation of a knowledge creation & management network among Latin American HEIs on the university access and continuance policies.

b) Dissemination products, related to the above:

  • 1 comparative article on university access, continuance and performance policies
  • 1 article on the factors and groups excluded in Latin America
  • 1 international conference on university access, continuance and performance in Latin America
  • 1 explanatory article on the theoretically-validated ACCEDES model
  • 1 article on the pilot test of the ACCEDES model in partner countries
  • 1 international event on access, continuance and academic performance in higher education
  • 1 article on the comparative results of the ACCEDES model in the different HEIs at which it is applied.

c) Other derived effects:

  • The provision of tools to improve participating universities
  • The revival of the debate on the importance of university policies on access and continuance
  • The strengthening of the public higher-education systems for vulnerable groups in participating countries and groups with lower education indicators
  • The fostering of opportunities for indigenous people and communities as substantial for sustainable human development.

With respect to the possibilities of reproducing and extending the results of the planned actions, as set forth in the methodology section, the working system during the replication stage ensures the project’s coverage and presence in all of Latin America by using the twin methodology, where each institution involved in the project will be paired up with another country without representation (or a HEI twin). Thus, the involvement and co-operation of national and supranational organisations (i.e. Cuban Ministry of Universities, Uruguay Education Council, CID, UNESCO-IESALC, the OEI, among others), connecting the project to a pre-existing network in Latin America on education management (http://www.redage.org) and the start up of a knowledge creation & management network on the project’s subjects will all directly contribute to its reproduction and extension throughout Latin America.
