Contract Signature

UAB has signed, through EDO-UAB, a project contract worth 173.308€ for developing IDEAS Project: Initiatives for educational and socio-community development in Costa Rica”.
Last November 30th it was signed a collaboration contract between Autonomous University of Barcelona and the European Commission, through PROEDUCA program with Costa Rica, for setting IDEAS Project “Initiatives for educational and socio-community development” (Ref.: DCI-ALA/2010/021-501). This project, that counts on a budget worth 173.308€ of which European Commission provides with 143.239,70€, it will be developed in collaboration with Technological Institute of Costa Rica (TEC) and it has as a main goal improving continuity rates in secondary education students in Costa Rica. This purpose is settled in 3 operational goals: 1) Designing a comprehensive handmade about orientation and tutoring focused in assisting night students. 2) Developing curriculum development actions, organizational actions, professional actions and community actions.3) Discuss and spread the results through professional practice communities.
The project will settle, in this sense, a Tutorial action handbook for secondary education institutions in Costa Rica, and it foresees the development of formative activities that will allow the training of the teachers who are currently working in the centers, for applying different strategies and methodologies. Moreover, it’s also foreseen the participation of Costa Rica’s Education Department with the main purpose of establishing lines of communication that will allow the survival of all presented proposals beyond life span of IDEAS project.
On the part of UAB, Organizational Development Team (Equipo de Desarrollo Organizacional, EDO) will lead the project, and it will be coordinated by PhD Joaquín Gairin. EDO-UAB has an extensive experience in international project development. The most relevant projects have been PCI- AECID, Erasmus, Asialink, Leonardo and Comenius. In addition, recently, EDO-UAB have led ACCEDES project: Access and academic success of vulnerable groups in risk environments in Latin American countries” (http://edo.uab.cat/accedes) as part of ALFA III program from European Commission. This project has produced strategies for promoting improvement in access and continuity policies in higher education studies in 15 Iberoamerican countries.
It’s also distinguished another project for his relevance, magnitude and influence ability: Support Educational Management Net (Red de Apoyo a la Gestión Educativa, http://www.redage.org) which involves more than 300 Iberoamerican universities that are linked to educational management. This net has also had the support of Spanish Agency of International Cooperation during the 4 years of the project. .
