The MEP-ProEDUCA project, through an agreement between the Ministry of Public Education and the European Union, aims to find the tools and strategies needed to prevent hundreds of students from abandoning their studies each year because of factors such as economic or learning difficulties or lack of interest.

The project will benefit 56,000 students from 80 schools in the regions of Guanacaste, Puntarenas, Limón, Zona Sur and the Gran Área Metropolitana; these areas were selected because they are in situations of vulnerability and poverty, reducing opportunities for broad sectors of youths.

The main objectives of MEP-ProEDUCA are to shape an educational management that is participatory and capable of responding to the problem; ensure students find the educational processes interesting, strengthening their sense of belonging to the educational institution and guarantee greater equity and better conditions for learning through new or improved infrastructure, equipment and use of technologies.
