The methods we have followed in computing the characteristic factors f and p of a uranium graphite lattice are presented, as well as the results we obtained. The methods are now well known (1). But at the time when we started our work, some three years ago, the literature and the data available, in particular those concerning the calculation of the resonance escape probability, were extremely scarce. The purpose of this paper is therefore to show the way we solved the problem and what we got from its solution. The first section of the paper sketches the theoretical methods for computing the factors f and p. The second section deals with the methods of numerical calculus we have been following in practice and with the estimate of the errors involved. The results we obtained for two kinds of graphite of the same degree of purity but of different densities, namely 1. 6 and 2. 0 are given in Tables 1 to 6. |

Iglesias sobre el estudio de los parámetros fundamentales de una red de uranio-grafito, con uso de los métodos del cálculo numérico (este artículo ha sido citado en el capítulo dedicado a la teoría del reactor por S. Glasstone en su tratado Principles of Nuclear Reactor Engineering, Londres, 1956, p 191). Según el informe del tribunal de las oposiciones de Barcelona "si bien había sido resuelto con anterioridad no se habían publicado los resultados y eran desconocidos por lo tanto por los autores del presente trabajo". |
