O problema do iconismo : um dogma semiótico

Resum: I am interested in evaluating the argumentative steps made by Umberto Eco, in order to redress the issue of likeness and iconism: this special subject starts a debate which will be developed throughout the 70's, all around Eco's observations on the actual determination of iconic signs, which reappears mainly in his latest semiotic work, Kant and the Platypus (1997), not without the restitution of some theoretical, and ultimately, dogmatic, positions. I wish to indicate these very assumptions, as demarcatory of the historical conditions of the semiotical approaches towards communications, and some of these results on the problem of iconism. To justify my own reservations on the ways to conceive the iconical as pects of meaning, sub specie semioticae, I wish to address Eco's points in the discussions on the originally perceptual aspects of iconicily.
