Resumen:	A partir del trasfondo etnográfico e histórico del film El Abrazo de la Serpiente (2015) se abre la discusión sobre la relación entre frontera, modernidad y terror; se aborda el carácter ubicuo y opaco del terror como base discursiva del sistema mundo, y se indaga en la imposición del patriarcado como sustrato del colonialismo y de la relación entre proyectos civilizatorios e irracionalidad. Finalmente, se concluye que las regiones limítrofes del globo no son espacios estáticos, estancados en el tiempo, sino contextos de constante generación y resignificación de imágenes en medio de una historicidad cambiante.
Resumen:	The article approaches the relations between frontier, modernity and terror through the analysis of the ethnographic and historical background of the movie The Embrace of the Serpent (2015). It illustrates the ubiquitous and opaque features of terror as the discursive substrata for the world-system, the imposition of patriarchy as the basis of colonialism and the relation between civilizing projects and irrationality. This paper concludes that global frontiers are neither timeless nor static spaces, but frames of constant generation and resignification of images within a mutable historicity.
