El primer tercio del siglo XX es considerado como uno de los períodos de mayor prosperidad de la investigación científica en España. El caso particular de la astronomía y los estudios de astrofísica no es una excepción. Este texto presenta el estado de estas disciplinas en la España de las décadas de 1920 y 1930, con especial atención al período de la II República, una etapa caracterizada por una substancial actividad en el campo de la divulgación de la astronomía y una notable labor científica que supusieron un importante impulso para estos estudios de astronomía y astrofísica en España. Un proceso que se vio finalmente truncado con el estallido de la Guerra Civil y el exilio de notables científicos. |

The first third of the twentieth century is considered one of the most prosperous periods of scientific research in Spain. The particular case of astronomy and astrophysical studies is not an exception. This paper shows the progress of these disciplines in Spain during the 1920s and 1930s, paying special attention to the period of the II Republic, a period characterized by a substantial activity in the field of popularization of astronomy and a notable scientific work that boosted the studies of astronomy and astrophysics in Spain. The outbreak of the Civil War and the subsequent exile of outstanding scientists meant the end of such a process. |
