Resumen: | Translations of Chinese literature have traditionally been scarce in Spain. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of both the development and current state of Chinese literature translated in Spain. Working from a database including 695 entries of translated books into Spain's official languages, our analysis reveals that the number of translations has increased sharply in recent decades and now seems to be levelling out. It also establishes that Laozi's Dao De Jing is the most translated work, philosophy and novels are clearly the most popular genres and there has been a steady increase in direct translations, among other findings. |
