Resum:	En este trabajo examinamos la «historia oficial» de las retraducciones al español de The Descent of Man (1871), de Charles Darwin, publicadas en España entre 1872 y 1998, y de sus traductores y editores, según han sido estos reconocidos hasta la fecha en la historia de la traducción y la ciencia. Valiéndonos de la metodología y las herramientas informáticas desarrolladas a tal efecto en el ámbito de la lingüística forense, efectuamos un exhaustivo análisis cuantitativo de la llamativa similitud que detectamos en las ediciones estudiadas, con especial mención de los resultados que revelan un grado de coincidencia entre los textos traducidos igual o superior al 95%, que nos permite distinguir las ediciones espurias de aquellas otras de las que estas flagrantemente se nutren, y abogar, en consecuencia, por la necesidad de proceder a una reconsideración de la historia de las traducciones de la obra de Darwin en España.
Resum:	This article examines the "official history" of the Spanish retranslations of The Descent of Man (1871), by Charles Darwin, published in Spain between 1872 and 1998, and of their translators and publishers, as accepted to date in the History of Translation and Science. Applying the methodology and computer tools developed to that effect in the field of Forensic Linguistics, we carry out an exhaustive quantitative analysis of the striking similarities detected in these editions, with special reference to those results that reveal a degree of coincidence between the translated texts equal to or higher than 95%, which allows us to differentiate spurious versions from the genuine editions they flagrantly reproduce, and hence advocate for the need to reassess the history of the translations of Darwin's work in Spain.
