In this article we have tried to relate the text of Livy XLIII, 3 conceming to Carteia's foundation, with the nomina of the monetary magistrates who coin in this latin colony. Our purpose is to observe if the mixed composition which participates in the deductio is reflected in the nature of the survived family names. In that case, these monetary magistrates could be the descendants of the first contingents who settled in it: a joining of the roman, italic and indigenous elements. |
