Abstract:	Carlos Fuentes es uno de los autores más destacados del panorama de la literatura fantástica hispanoamericana del siglo XX. El objetivo de este artículo es hacer un análisis comparativo de dos novelas cortas suyas, Aura y Vlad, en el trasfondo de la formación - personal de Fuentes y general de la modalidad - de la literatura fantástica y del concepto de lo fantástico modernos. Como pasaron más de cuatro décadas entre la publicación de una y otra, decidimos analizarlas y plasmar sus estrategas narrativas, la forma de constitución del espacio fantástico y la atmósfera ambigua y, ante todo, el uso creativo de las figuras míticas de vampiro y bruja con respecto a su representación en otras obras, tanto fuentesianas como ajenas.
Abstract:	Carlos Fuentes is one of the most outstanding authors of 20th century Spanish-American fantasy literature. The aim of this article is to analyse two of his short novels, Aura and Vlad, against the background of the formation - both Fuentes's personal and the general formation of the mode - of modern fantastic literature and the concept of the fantastic. As more than four decades passed between the publication of the works, we decided to make a comparative analysis of the way in which the fantastic space and the ambiguous atmosphere were constituted and, above all, of the creative use of the mythical figures of vampire and witch in comparison with their representation in other works, both Fuentes's and others'.
