La mano dell'artifex nel viaggio ellenico di Maia

Resum:	L'articolo rilegge il poema Maia, ispirato dal primo viaggio in Grecia di Gabriele d'Annunzio nel 1895, attraverso il tema della mano e del gesto. Ogni incontro reale o immaginario è sottolineato dall'autore con una descrizione della mano del protagonista. Così, ad esempio, ai gesti eroici di Ulisse e a quelli creatori degli scultori greci si contrappongono gli artigli di Elena di Sparta e i gesti abietti degli abitanti di Patre. Una contrapposizione che rispecchia il tema dell'intero poema: il ritorno al passato classico per trovare in esso quegli esempi positivi che possano contribuire ad una rinascita del mondo moderno.
Resum:	The article rereads the poem Maia, inspired by Gabriele d'Annunzio's first trip to Greece in 1895, through the theme of hand and gesture. Each encounter, real or imaginary, is emphasized by d'Annunzio with a description of the protagonist's hand. Thus, for example, the heroic gestures of Odysseus and the creative gestures of the Greek sculptors are compared and contrasted with the claws of Helen of Sparta and the abject gestures of the inhabitants of Patre. A juxtaposition that reflects the theme of the entire poem: a return to the classical past in order to find in it positive examples that can contribute to a rebirth of the modern world.
