Small Agency in the Nuclear Anthropocene : Local Words for the Palomares Accident

Abstract:	The science of global changes emerges from a period when large-scale international research defined by the military-industrial-academic complex was the norm. Historian of science Xavier Roqué subverts this historical supremacy of big science in the nuclear age by highlighting the role of small-scale science and local research. Through the case of the nuclear accident at Palomares, Spain, he shows the importance of local actants and scarce resources in registering and understanding Anthropocene-scale phenomena.
