Abstract: This concluding chapter synthesizes the theoretical and empirical insights of Radical Municipalism: The Politics of the Common and the Democratization of Public Services, proposing a framework for advancing the democratic road to socialism. Drawing on the cases analysed, it identifies three strategic dimensions of transformation: the construction of the scale of everyday life, legal prefiguration, and the disaggregation of ownership. It argues that radical municipalism does not privilege the municipal as an administrative unit but focuses on politicizing the routines and infrastructures of social reproduction. Legal prefiguration refers to the creation or reinterpretation of legal frameworks that enable institutions of the common, including through practices of legal hacking. Disaggregating ownership involves breaking down the monolithic concept of property into a plurality of rights subject to democratic control. The chapter concludes that democratizing service delivery is insufficient: public services must be redefined, governed, and evaluated through collective self-government to become truly common and support democratic socialism.
