In 1239, the Jewish convert to Christianity Nicholas Donin submitted 35 articles to Pope Gregory ix reporting the blasphemies and errors contained in the Talmud. This gave rise to the Disputation of Paris in 1240, the burning of the Talmud (1241/1242), and an extensive translation of passages into Latin, known as the Extractiones de Talmud. [...]
