The aim of this presentation is to offer a new approach towards teaching colour terms in Chinese using cognitive liguistics. After reviewing the state of the art and describing the main characteristics of this new framework, the authors take the colour white as a case study, offering a contrastive analysis between Chinese and Spanish and showing some pedagogical activities carried out in the classroom.
