Abstract in English:

The chapter reviews and assesses different investigations into the cognitive efforts of struturing information in translation: a recent study by Bangalore et al taking a syntactic approach to structuring and a study by Fabio Alves, who investigates the efforts of translating procedural information as laid out in Reevance Theory. The functional approach taken in Hansen Schirra et al for a corpus study of English -German translation is also considered. The CBS TPR database is used to demonstrate how information structurally motivated changes play a role in the processing of translations across the languages English- Danish- Spanish and German, and the need for investigating information structural operations in translation is advocated as  a means to explain translation efforts.
