Resum:	El nuevo proyecto educativo de la Escuela de Suboficiales, significó que se reformularon los programas de todas asignaturas correspondientes al 1er. Año y posteriormente se modificaron diversos aspectos relacionados con la gestión educativa de este instituto. Esta investigación indaga aspectos que afectan el rendimiento académico de estos alumnos, entre los cuales: los hábitos y técnicas de estudio; el régimen interno y el nivel de ingreso de quienes después de un proceso de selección pasan a integrar el primer año. Estos factores han adquirido una importancia en la Escuela de Suboficiales, ya que en los últimos años se ha notado un incremento en el bajo rendimiento de los alumnos, por tanto, condicionan el sistema de estudios y la forma de vida del alumnado, las cuales se desarrollan en un ambiente de disciplina militar con los códigos internos propios de este plantel educacional. Por consiguiente, resulta importante describir la situación existente para determinar si hay relación entre estos factores con el rendimiento académico, para proponer las medidas remediales con la finalidad de mejorar cualitativamente los procesos y así cumplir los objetivos institucionales de este Instituto.
Resum:	The new educational project of the Non Commissioned School re-formulated the programs of all subjects corresponding to 1st. Grade and later, and modified several aspects related to the educational management of this institute. This research investigates aspects that affect the academic performance of the students, such as the habits and study techniques; the internal regime and the level of revenue of those who join the first year after a process of selection. These factors have affected the Non Commissioned School adversely, since in the last years there has been deterioration in performance of the students. This determines the system of studies and the way of life, which is developed in a military discipline with internal own codes of this educational Institute. Consequently, it is important to describe the existing situation to determine if there is any relation among these factors with the academic performance, to propose solutions in order to improve qualitatively the processes and this way fulfill the institutional goals of this Institute.
