Diàleg intercultural en la modernitat xinesa de principis del segle XX

Abstract:	A finals del segle XIX es van produir a la Xina una sèrie de debats entorn de les reformes que es pretenien endegar per tal de modernitzar el país, basades en idees importades de l'entorn euroamericà sobre la política, la societat, la llengua, la literatura i el pensament. Aquest diàleg intercultural va produir "nous significats" que van influir notablement en la construcció dels discursos sobre la modernitat durant les dècades posteiors. En aquest article s'analitza, mitjançant el mètode de "juxtaposar connexions" ??(datong), un dels conceptes introduïts a la Xina durant l'època esmentada, el concepte de democràcia.
Abstract:	At the end of the ninetieth century, China witness the emergence of several debates about the reforms needed to modernize the country. These reforms were based on imported ideas (from the Euro-American context) about politics, society, language, literature, and thought. This intercultural dialogue produced "new meanings" which significantly influenced the construction of discourses on modernity in the following decades. Using the method of "striking connections" ??(datong), this article analyses the concept of democracy, one of the concepts introduced in China during that period.
