L'assignatura mobilitza els coneixements de lingüística sincrònica i -sobre tot- diacrònica adquirits en els tres cursos anteriors. Aplica un enfocament eminentment pràctic i proporciona a l'alumne la formació lingüística necessària per accedir al llenguatge d'autors de períodes primerencs de l'anglès, aplicant i desenvolupant els conceptes i les competències adquirides en la formació nuclear. Forma part tant de la menció de Lingüística Anglesa (on actua com a complement -sobre tot- de l'assignatura de Canvi i Variació Lingüístiques) com de la menció de Literatura Anglesa (facilitant l'accés a textos antics, medievals i del renaixement). En completar l'assignatura, l'estudiant podrà: Utilitzar materials de referència en matèria de la lingüística diacrònica per Analitzar, interpretar i traduir textos anglesos de qualsevol època Establir la procedència cronològica i geogràfica d'un text Traçar l'evolució de fenòmens lingüístics a través de les manifestacions textuals. |
| Resum: |
This course applies and develops the concepts and skills in synchronic and -especially- diachronic linguistics provided by previous compulsory subjects. The approach taken is of a rather practical kind: students will be required to apply their theoretical knowledge to the analysis of sample texts in earlier stages of English, thus providing linguistic training to help students access the language of authors from different periods. The course forms part of the "specialization" in English Linguistics (complementing such courses as Change and Variation or Sociolinguistics) as well as that of English Literature (allowing access to texts in Old, Middle and early Modern English). On completing the course students will have the ability to: to obtain and effectively use reference material in the field of diachronic linguistics to analyse, interpret and translate English texts of any period to establish the chronologival and geographic provenance of texts To describe the evolution of linguistic phenomena as they are attested in texts. |
