Abstract: The aim of this research is the Paris Agreement on climate change, adopted at the Conference of Parties 21 (COP 21) in December 2015. It is currently the one most important international treaty that tackles climate change. Given the situation of emergency throughout the world where large ice cups are melting and droughts and other natural disasters are starting to become the rule, it is very relevant to analyze at what extent can the Paris Agreement safeguard us from global warming catastrophes. It will also be analyzed the operational and most remarkable provisions that are centered around fighting global warming. Finally, it will be made reference to the ethical perspective on carbon markets and the United States withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. The thesis that will try to be sustained throughout the research is as follows: be it resolved, the Paris Agreement is insufficient to fight against climate change and, thus, a new treaty is imperative.
