On the integrability and dynamics of the Hide, Skeldon and Acheson differential system

Resum:	The family of systems x˙ = x(y - 1) - βz, y˙ = α(1 - x2) - κy, z˙ = x - λz, where (x, y, z) ∈ R3 and α, β, κ, λ are real parameters, was proposed by Hide, Skeldon and Acheson in 1996 for the study of self-excited dynamo action in which a Faraday disc and coil are arranged in series with either a capacitor or a motor. Since then it has been studied by several authors. Here for the first time we provide, taking into account all values of the parameters, all its 13 types of invariant algebraic surfaces, its 2 polynomial and its 2 rational simple first integrals having at most degree two, and its 6 Darboux invariants coming for the invariant algebraic surfaces of degree two. Moreover, we show how to describe its dynamics in the Poincaré ball when the differential system has either a given first integral, or a given Darboux invariant. Describing the dynamics of the differential system in the Poincaré ball we control the orbits of the system that escape or come from the infinity.
