Resum: This work develops and compares three Machine Learning models (Prophet, XGBoost, and LSTM) to predict solar and wind energy generation in the Iberian Peninsula. The instability episodes that culminated in the blackout of 28 April 2025 serve as the case study for this research. The models are trained on hourly generation data from the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform combined with meteorological variables from five representative stations, weighted by installed capacity. The main objective is to assess whether the models detect anomalous deviations from expected generation during critical situations, and to identify which approach is best suited for anomaly detection in renewable generation systems. The results provide recommendations for integrating predictive systems into renewable energy grid monitoring.
