La conceptualizació de l'objecte d'estudi en la recerca sobre comunicació local a Catalunya (1981-2006) : de mesocomunicació a mitjans de proximitat

Resum:	Des del naixement dels estudis contemporanis sobre comunicació de masses a Catalunya la segona meitat dels anys setanta del segle XX, els mitjans locals han estat un dels objectes d'estudi més tractats. De fet, s'ha afirmat que existeix una línia de recerca específica i considerada com una de les principals aportacions del Principat al coneixement sobre la comunicació contemporània (Corominas, 1997; Jones, 1998). Tot i un marcat caràcter descriptiu en la majoria de les seves aproximacions, dins d'aquesta línia de recerca també s'han fet intents de teoritzar l'objecte d'estudi. El resultat n'ha estat l'aparició de dos conceptes en les darreres tres dècades: mesocomunicació i mitjans de proximitat. Aquest article duu a terme una anàlisi crítica del naixement i desenvolupament d'aquests conceptes, així com de les limitacions que presenten i les aportacions que han suposat per la recerca sobre comunicació.
Resum:	From the birth of contemporary studies about mass communication in Catalonia in the second half of the 70s in the 20th century, the local media have been some of the most frequent objects of study. In fact, it has been said that this is a specific line of research which is considered to be one of the principal contributions of the Principality to knowledge about contemporary communication (Corominas, 1997; Jones, 1998). Despite the marked descriptive nature of the majority of these approaches, within this line of research there have also been attempts to theorize about the object of study. The result has been the appearance of two concepts in the last three decades, mesocommunication and proximity media. This article presents a critical analysis of the birth and development of these concepts, as well as the limitations presented and the contributions made regarding research into communication.
