Abstract:	En torno a la exégesis del fantasma, motivo de génesis y referencia angular como índice de incertidumbre en El espinazo del diablo, Guillermo del Toro urde todo un complejo laberinto de definiciones tentativas suspendidas en el tiempo y en el espacio, una galería de sugerencias disipadas, imágenes imposibles o ecos en constante dialéctica o semantización complementaria que subliman al fantasma como índice literal y figurativo abierto a múltiples interpretaciones. Del Toro huye del sentido unívoco de lo fantasmagórico y plantea una figuración en la que multiplica la sinonimia y las acepciones de lo espectral, enfatizando, a partir de la iteración y la omnipresencia del fantasma y sus derivas de representación, la posibilidad y necesidad de interpretar y clausurar terapéuticamente todo aquello que permanece no resuelto y latente.
Abstract:	A most epicentric and seminal motif in The Devil's Backbone, representing an index of uncertainty, the ghost stands as the axis around which Guillermo del Toro builds up a complex maze of tentative definitions -suspended both in time and space-, a gallery of blurred suggestions, impossible images and echoes in permanent clash and constant semantization which sublimate the ghost as a literal and figurative element open to multiple interpretations. Del Toro avoids the univocal sense of the phantasmagoric and offers a canvas in which synonyms and definitions of the spectral are multiplied -as a result of the recurrence and omnipresence of the ghost as well as the disparity of its representations-, laying emphasis on the possibility and need to therapeutically interpret and define everything that remains unresolved and latent.
