Group of Studies on Immigration and Ethnic Minorities (GEDIME)

El Group of Studies on Immigration and Ethnic Minorities (GEDIME), created in 1989, is part of the UAB’s Department of Sociology. GEDIME has a long history of sociological studies on international migration dynamics, transnational practices in migratory contexts and social inclusion of ethnic minorities.

Since 2005, it has been recognized as a consolidated research group by the Generalitat de Catalunya and, in the year 2009, it was one of the founding members of the Centre d'Estudis i Recerca de Migracions (CER-Migracions), currently an interdisciplinary and interuniversity research center (UAB-UB).

The main lines of research of GEDIME include:

1. The transnational perspective in the study of migration 2. Mobilities and new reconfigurations of migratory dynamics 3. Migration movements and labor markets 4. Migration, ethnic minorities and social inclusion 5. Studies on gender, migration and diversity
