Children often appear in cinema which does not necessarily address them. In this volume 46 Anglophone films are analysed to consider how children are represented in live-action films. The conclusion is that while they are often the centre of attention, their needs and point of view are always subordinated to those of the adults in the films, hence our calling them 'beautiful vessels'.
