¿Qué estrategia es mejor para un problema de Fermi? Adaptabilidad de futuros maestros
/
Segura Cordero, Carlos (Universitat de València) ;
[...] Fermi problems, suitable for primary school, pose a real and open situation that allows the development and comparison of multiple strategies. This requires teachers to be adaptive (able to choose the most appropriate strategy). [...]

Intention recognition of pedestrians and cyclists by 2D pose estimation
/
Fang, Zhijie (Centre de Visió per Computador (Bellaterra, Catalunya)) ;
López Peña, Antonio M. (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Ciències de la Computació)
Anticipating the intentions of vulnerable road users (VRUs) such as pedestrians and cyclists is critical for performing safe and comfortable driving maneuvers. This is the case for human driving and, thus, should be taken into account by systems providing any level of driving assistance, from advanced driver assistant systems (ADAS) to fully autonomous vehicles (AVs). Analytic compartmental models are currently used in mathematical epidemiology to forecast the COVID-19 pandemic evolution and explore the impact of mitigation strategies. In general, such models treat the population as a single entity, losing the social, cultural and economical specificities. [...]

Does collaborative and experiential work influence the solution of real-context estimation problems? A study with prospective teachers
/
Segura, Carlos (Universitat de València) ;
Ferrando, Irene (Universitat de València) ;
Albarracín Gordo, Lluís (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)
Although it is a challenge for primary school teachers, real-context estimation problems can be used as an introduction to mathematical modeling. With this aim, we designed a two-phase activity: in the first phase, 224 prospective teachers developed individual action plans to solve asequence of real-context estimation problems in the classroom; in the second phase, they completed the solution of the same problems working in groups in the real location where the four problems were contextualized. [...]

Chemicals are part of our daily lives, and we are exposed to numerous chemicals through multiple pathways. Relevant scientific evidence contributing to the regulation of hazardous chemicals require a holistic approach to assess simultaneous exposure to multiple compounds. [...]
