Departamento de Matemática) ; Valls, Clàudia 1973- (Universidade de Lisboa. Instituto Superior Técnico. Departamento de Matemática)
The generalized Chazy differential equation corresponds to the following two-parameter family of differential equations x ⃛ + | x | q x ¨ + k | x | q x x ˙ 2 = 0, which has its regularity varying with q, a positive integer. [...]

18 p, 334.8 KB Limit cycles of linear vector fields on (S2)m ×Rn / Cufí Cabré, Clara (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques) ; Llibre, Jaume (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques)
It is well known that linear vector fields defined in Rn cannot have limit cycles, but this is not the case for linear vector fields defined in other manifolds. We study the existence of limit cycles bifurcating from a continuum of periodic orbits of linear vector fields on manifolds of the form (S2)m × Rn when such vector fields are perturbed inside the class of all linear vector fields. [...]

During the last twenty years there has been increasing interest in studying the piecewise differential systems, mainly due to their many applications in natural science and technology. Up to now the most studied differential systems are in dimension two, here we study them in dimension three. [...]

11 p, 296.4 KB On the Periodic Orbits of the Perturbed Two- and Three-Body Problems / Abouelmagd, Elbaz I. (National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics. Astronomy Department (Egypt)) ; Guirao, Juan Luis Garcia (Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena. Departamento de Matemática Aplicada y Estadística) ; Llibre, Jaume (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques)
In this work, a perturbed system of the restricted three-body problem is derived when the perturbation forces are conservative alongside the corresponding mean motion of two primaries bodies. Thus, we have proved that the first and second types of periodic orbits of the rotating Kepler problem can persist for all perturbed two-body and circular restricted three-body problems when the perturbation forces are conservative or the perturbed motion has its own extended Jacobian integral.

On the C1 non-integrability of the autonomous differential systems / Llibre, Jaume (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques)
In the study of the dynamics of the autonomous differential systems to know the existence or non-existence of first integrals is a relevant fact. These last decades the meromorphic non-integrability of the autonomous differential systems have been studied intensively using the Ziglin's and the Morales-Ramis' theories. [...]

It is know that the non-autonomous differential equations dx/dt = a(t) + b(t)|x|, where a(t) and b(t) are 1-periodic maps of class C1, have no upper bound for their number of limit cycles (isolated solutions satisfying x(0) = x(1)). [...]

Number of limit cycles for planar systems with invariant algebraic curves / Gasull, Armengol (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques) ; Giacomini, Hector (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. Université de Tours. Institut Denis Poisson)
For planar polynomials systems the existence of an invariant algebraic curve limits the number of limit cycles not contained in this curve. We present a general approach to prove non-existence of periodic orbits not contained in this given algebraic curve. [...]

68 p, 5.5 MB Computing invariant manifolds for libration point missions / Mondelo González, José María (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques)
The goal of this lecture is to review several methodologies for the computation of invariant manifolds, having in mind the needs of preliminary mission design of libration point missions. Because of this, the methods reviewed are developed for and applied to the circular, spatial restricted three-body problem (RTBP), although most of them can be applied with few changes, or almost none, to general dynamical systems. Departament de Matemàtica Aplicada i Anàlisi) ; Mondelo González, José María (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques)
The main goal is to give an explanation of transport in the Solar System based in dynamical systems theory. More concretely, we consider as an approximation of the Solar System, a chain of independent Bicircular problems in order to get a first insight of transport in this simplified case. [...]

Departament de Matemàtiques) ; Mañosas Capellades, Francesc (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques)
Let F be a real or complex n-dimensional map. It is said that F is globally periodic if there exists some p ∈ ℕ such that F(x) = x for all x, where F = F ◦ F , k ≥ 2. The minimal p satisfying this property is called the period of F. [...]

We study the periodic solutions of the non-autonomous periodic Lyness' recurrence u = (a + u )/u, where {a} is a cycle with positive values a,b and with positive initial conditions. Among other methodological issues we give an outline of the proof of the following results: (1) If (a, b) ≠ (1, 1), then there exists a value p(a, b) such that for any p > p(a, b) there exist continua of initial conditions giving rise to 2p-periodic sequences.
