Como en el resto del mundo, Internet ha provocado en China importantes cambios en la comunicación y en la forma en la que los ciudadanos obtienen información y participan de la realidad política, social y cultural del país. Este artículo explica algunos de los fenómenos más relevantes que Internet ha desencadenado en China desde un punto de vista informativo, describiendo la forma en la que ha intensificado el proceso de comercialización y "elitización" de la información, la aparición de nuevos e influyentes portales de noticias, la difícil relación entre el mundo on-line y off-line y el rol de los ciudadanos en su crítica hacia los medios tradicionales. |

As has happened in the rest of the world, the Internet has changed the way information is produced and disseminated by the media in China and the way audiences contribute to the political, social and cultural debates of the country. This article explains some of the more important transformations the Internet has brought to China in the information era, describing the confirmation of commercialization and "elitization" of the news, the rise of new and influential web portals, the difficult relationship between the on-line and the off-line world and the role netizens play in criticizing the traditional media. |
