The emerging whitefly-transmitted crinivirus tomato chlorosis virus (ToCV) causes substantial economic losses by inducing yellow leaf disorder in tomato crops. This study explores potential resistance mechanisms by examining early-stage molecular responses to ToCV. [...]

Translation of seed stored mRNAs is essential to trigger germination. However, when RNAPII re-engages RNA synthesis during the seed-to-seedling transition has remained in question. Combining csRNA-seq, ATAC-seq and smFISH in Arabidopsis thaliana we demonstrate that active transcription initiation is detectable during the entire germination process. [...]

Online application for survival analysis (OASIS) and its update, OASIS 2, have been widely used for survival analysis in biological and medical sciences. Here, we provide a portable version of OASIS, an all-in-one offline suite, to facilitate secure survival analysis without uploading the data to online servers. [...]

Allelopathy has been considered as a natural method of weed control. Despite the nature of allelochemical compounds has been studied, little is known about the genetic basis underlying allelopathy. However, it is known that rice exhibits diverse allelopathic potentials across varieties, and breeding for rice plants exhibiting allelopathic potential conferring an advantage against weeds in paddy fields would be highly desirable. Italy has a long history in beef production, with local breeds such as Marchigiana, Chianina, Romagnola, Maremmana, and Podolica which produce high-quality meat. Selection has improved meat production, precocity, growth ability and muscle development, but the genetic determinism of such traits is mostly unknown. [...]

Stomata govern the gaseous exchange between the leaf and the external atmosphere, and their function is essential for photosynthesis and the global carbon and oxygen cycles. Rhythmic stomata movements in daily dark/light cycles prevent water loss at night and allow CO uptake during the day. [...]

Department of Animal Science) ; Amills i Eras, Marcel (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Ciència Animal i dels Aliments)
The cheese core has a lower oxygen saturation and salinity and a higher acidity than the rind, but there is controversy about the incidence of such factors on the magnitude of microbial diversity. The goal of the current work was to investigate the existence of differences in α-diversity between the core, middle part, and rind of six Spanish commercial cheeses through a sequencing approach. The intramuscular fat content and fatty acid composition of porcine meat have a significant impact on its quality and nutritional value. This research aimed to investigate the expression of 45 genes involved in lipid metabolism in the longissimus dorsi muscle of three experimental pig backcrosses, with a 25% of Iberian background.
