Resum:	En este trabajo se trata del concepto de sentido, tanto de la obra literaria como de la traducción, y de las implicaciones teóricas que dicho concepto tiene. A partir de las tesis de Orman Quine, de Ogden y Richards, de Eagleton, de Iser y de otros autores, se realiza una aproximación teórica a las diferencias entre decir y querer decir, para las que se tienen en cuenta cuatro factores: Significado, Uso, Creación e Individuo.
Resum:	This work deals with the concept of meaning, both in literature and in translation, and with its theoretical implications. From the theses of authors like Quine, Ogden and Richards, Eagleton, Iser and others, a theoretical approach is made to the differences between to mean and to try to mean, in which four factors are considered: meaning, use, creation and individual.
